Shopping Spree

My significant other now has an internship at a retailer. As an intern, he gets the perk of a slight discount for his purchases. He's also been excited to explore a store, now that he knows more about the inner workings of this company.

So, we trudged off to a store to look around, and complete some needed shopping. Money has been tight lately, so we haven't bought a lot of "stuff" for ourselves lately. However, this trip was different. We could use the rationale that the discount would make the purchase more economical. So, we starting looking around at stuff that we had been drooling over for the past few months/years.

Then, I remembered a very excited blogger describe one of his favorite appliances...and it so happens that the store carries this appliance. We looked at it...and we talked about it...and we looked at it some more. Then, we decided that we should buy it. So we did. Today, my significant other got a chance to play with it (he plays with all appliances and then gives me a thorough demonstration on how it works). I am now proud to say that we are the owner of the BEST MULTI-PURPOSE appliance ever created. It slices! It dices! It even fries an egg!

On my next post, I'll describe adventures with my new body groomer!

A few comments but none directly related to your posting.

First I had hoped we would hear more about your European holiday. A holiday in Italy is one of those unrealized dreams of mine and thus the opportunity to experience it through the perceptive senses of someone as articulate as you would be the next best thing. Please think about writing more.

I am a bit confused about your partner. Why the internship as a retailer? Is the congregation unable to support a full time minister? They have gone from two pastors to one. What's the deal?

Cheers,

Ian

I feel the need to respond and clarify...

Ian - You are right, I didn't write too much on Italy. Part of the reason, is that my mother was a very dilligent journal writer for most of the trip. She wrote quite a bit on what we did and where we went. You can visit her blog by clicking the link "I Wonder as I Wander".

I think part of the reson that I didn't dwell on it too much is that my life has moved very quickly since I've been gone.

To your second question, my partner is not a minister. He has never worked for the church. He is a software developer, who was laid off a few years ago. After some experiments with property management, he has returned to school (the college where I work will give him my tuition benefit). He is completing his Bachelor's degree, and he will be done by next summer.

His internship at a retailer (the identity of which, he does not want me to reveal) is with the IT department at the headquarters of this retailer. He got it through the college. If it goes well, they are likely to offer him a job while they wait for him to finish his studies.

So, I'm the only church worker in the family. He can make money to support me in my "meaningful" work

And another comment for Joe -

So far, I have had no adventures with the body groomer, other than purchasing it. I'm having a very busy week, where I am at work from 8:00 AM until 10:00 PM. I'm also feeling somewhat sick, so I'm not motivated to try anything strange.

Why the body groomer, you ask? Well, this may have had to do with the request of my significant other. I'll leave it at that until I can write another post.

Ian -

That's OK. There is a post back in the fall, when he started classes when I was worried about him and I both being at the college (and the religion classes he "had" to take). Most of my fears were unfounded. He likes to be a ministry supporter, rather than a ministry do-er.
